It’s a week after UCM staff participated in one of its busiest week’s of the year. The week began with the second year for the Faculty Newsmakers Gala held on Tuesday, October 18. During this event, 20 University faculty were presented with newly developed Keystroke Catalyst Awards for their efforts in being quoted in the Associated Press’ top 10 stories of 2015 as well as in multiple stories regionally and across the globe. From athletics to dinosaurs to mass shootings to politics, the evening celebrated the achievements of 142 OHIO faculty newsmakers who made headlines in 2015.
The event was a way for our team to let them and those who support them know that we appreciate the work they are doing to boost our reputation. Staff members were live tweeting the event using the hashtag “OHIONEWSMAKERS.” The complexity of the event allowed opportunities for communications and marketing staff to be quite engaged before, during, and after the event!
On Wednesday, October 19, the more than 50 of OHIO’s campus communications and members of UCM staff, which represent the larger Campus Communicator Network (CCN), gathered for its first meeting of the fall semester. Participants learned a little bit about each other during an icebreaker and guests from PartnersRiley presented findings from recent research. Those in attendance had an opportunity to discover how prospective students in three large Ohio cities “kicked the tires” on our brand creative and learned more about our growing brand share and perception among peer institutions in the state.
The bookend to the week was our Board of Trustees meetings, held last Thursday and Friday. Many members of the communications services team were engaged in work before, during, and after those meetings, helping to ensure that the OHIO community and local media were aware of the outcomes from those discussions.
I have great appreciation and pride for every member of the team who stepped in and stepped up when needed.
I’m so glad to be able to work with such a talented team!
